Composite Decking FAQs
What is composite decking made from?
Our boards are made from a blend of recycled wood fibres and plastic, creating a strong, eco-friendly alternative to timber.
Is it slippery when wet?
No—the boards feature an anti-slip surface making them safer than many traditional timber decks. Please note, however, in snow or extreme frost, no surface will be anti slip.
Does the colour fade?
Composite decking is UV-stabilised to resist fading. Some natural lightening may occur in the first months, then the colour stabilises.
How long does it last?
With proper installation, composite decking typically lasts 20+ years, backed by our 10-year warranty.
Can I install it myself?
Yes—composite decking is DIY-friendly and can be fitted with standard tools. For large or elevated projects, we recommend a professional installer.

Important Installation Notes for Composite Decking
-
Acclimatisation: Place the decking boards at the installation site for at least 72 hours before fitting. This allows the boards to acclimatise to local temperature and humidity.
-
Temperature conditions: Do not install decking in temperatures below 0ºC.
-
Approved accessories: Always use original Enterprise Building Products accessories and parts for a secure and compliant installation.
-
Ventilation clearance: Leave a minimum 25mm gap between the ground and the substructure to allow proper airflow. Insufficient ventilation will invalidate the warranty.
-
No direct ground contact: Ensure decking boards and substructure are not in direct contact with grass, soil, or other moist surfaces.
-
Expansion gaps: Composite boards naturally expand and contract with changes in temperature and moisture (approx. 0.3%–0.5%). Always allow sufficient expansion gaps between boards.
-
Base requirements: A solid, compacted base is essential for stability. We recommend a concrete foundation where possible.
